Renewal of the Presidium and new Secretary-general
On October 16, 2008 conducted by president Bert Kolkman, Netherlands, 22 member countries from all over the world met to the congress 2008 in São Paulo, Brazil. Besides the usual items on the agenda the organization of the UIB was renewed on this World Bread Day.
Peter Becker, president of the Zentralverband des Deutschen Bäckerhandwerks (German baker association), was elected president.
3 new vice-presidents were elected:
- Lorenzo Alonso, Spain
- Kaspar Sutter, Switzerland
- Boldizsár Ilonka, Hungary
2 vice-presidents were confirmed:
- Christian Vabret, France
- Marco Salomão, Brazil (delegate CIPAN)
Also confirmed:
- Henri Wagener, Luxembourg, as treasurer
- Theo Volkeri, Netherlands, as auditor
The term of office all posts is limited to 2 years; one reelection is possible. The secretary-general is elected for 5 years; one reelection is possible.
José Maria Fernández del Vallado from Spain was unanimously elected secretary-general and successor of Renaldo Nanzer. The Spanish baker association CEOPAN (President Lorenzo Alonso) will take over on January 1, 2009 the secretariat-general.

- the membership of the FIPPA, Italy
- the new commission presidents
During the assembly—fantastic and perfectly organized by the Brazilian colleagues—the congress said goodbye to acting president Bert Kolkman and the acting secretary-general Renaldo Nanzer.
The next board meeting will take place on April 5/6, 2009 in Switzerland.
