Fresh, creative, and fueled by pure passion: From March 12th to 15th, 2026, the Taipei International Bakery Show (TIBS) became the stage for the world’s best young bakers. In an impressive showcase, six nations proved that the future of the craft is not only technically perfect but also incredibly inspiring.
What happened in the exhibition halls of Taipei was far more than just a contest – it was a feast for the senses. Teams from Taiwan, Germany, France, Sweden, Brazil, and Peru stepped up to show how modern and international the baking craft is today. It wasn’t just about flour and water; it was about true storytelling through the medium of dough.
The Challenge: 8 Hours for Perfection
What looked like a fascinating show to the spectators was a true marathon for both mind and hands for the participants. Following a two-hour preparation session the day before, the teams had exactly six hours on the day of the competition to deliver a workload that left even seasoned masters in awe:
Bread (Category 1): 8 traditional sourdough breads and 8 special breads with a unique creative touch.
Bread Rolls & Buns (Category 2): A total of 60 rolls (30 traditional, 30 special) in various shapes.
Sweet Yeast Pastry (Category 3): 4 braided yeast pastries and 20 filled sweet pieces.
Danish Pastry / Viennoiserie (Category 4): 20 classic Danishes and 20 sweet or savory filled creations.
The Highlight – The Showpiece: A monumental artwork based on the theme "Sports," reaching heights of up to 1.80 meters.
The Jury's Decision
After an intense evaluation by the international expert jury, the rankings were announced at the festive Medal Ceremony:
🥇 1st Place (Gold): Taiwan 🇹🇼 – The hosts demonstrated a level of consistency across all categories that was second to none, also securing the Best Showpiece Award.
🥈 2nd Place (Silver): France 🇫🇷 – An outstanding demonstration of classic French baking artistry with a modern twist.
🥉 3rd Place (Bronze): Germany 🇩🇪 – Precision and artisanal excellence that rightfully earned a spot on the podium.
Special Honors for Outstanding Commitment: In addition to the main rankings, other nations were honored for their specific strengths: Sweden 🇸🇪 received the Jury President Award, Brazil 🇧🇷 was recognized for the Best Team Spirit, and Peru 🇵🇪 took home the New Country Award for an impressive debut on the world stage.
A Heartfelt Thank You
A competition of this caliber thrives on its hosts. A massive thank you goes to the Taipei International Bakery Show (TIBS) for the top-notch organization and the warm atmosphere.
