In July, the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIBC) honored the top talents in the global bakery and confectionery community with the prestigious titles “World Baker of the Year” and “World Confectioner of the Year.”The awards were presented during the Gala Dinner of the UIBC Congress in São Paulo, marking a memorable moment for both the winners and the industry.
This year’s awardees are:
🥖 José Roldán (Spain) – World Baker of the Year 2025
🍰 Joanne Huang Meng Wen (Singapore) – World Confectioner of the Year 2025
These awards recognize professionals whose talent, creativity, and dedication continue to inspire and advance the bakery and confectionery craft worldwide. Their achievements celebrate the passion and excellence that define the industry.
José Roldán Master baker from Córdoba, José Roldán runs his family bakery, El Brillante, where he combines decades of Andalusian baking tradition with innovative techniques. Creativity, precision, and passion define his work – establishing him as a prominent representative of modern baking. Joanne Huang Meng Wen Joanne Huang is a skilled pastry chef and master confectioner from Singapore, known for her innovative approach to sweets and desserts. At the bakery Cake in Action, she combines classical pastry techniques with modern flavors and creative presentation. Creativity, precision, and passion define her work, establishing her as a leading figure in modern confectionery.
Success at the International UIBC Competitions 🎉
In July, during the Fipan trade fair in São Paulo, two prestigious youth competitions of the UIBC took place: the UIBC International Competition of Young Bakers 🥖 and the UIBC Junior World Championship of Confectioners 🧁. Both events are among the most important platforms to showcase the skills and creativity of young talents in the baking and confectionery crafts worldwide.
At the UIBC International Competition of Young Bakers 🥨, the teams impressed with creativity, precision, and outstanding craftsmanship. The podium winners were: 🥇 China 🥈 France 🥉 Spain

In the UIBC Junior World Championship of Confectioners 🍰, young confectioners competed with refined creations and impressive techniques. The results:
